The square, mysterious geometric figure, with its meanings, functions and properties, exists since the beginning of the human life and has always been object of interest by philosophers, architects, scientists, men of letters and artists. I recently discovered its history and I wanted to dedicate it an exhibition of my pictures, that you can visit online too. The starting point was the couple of signs I discovered in November 1980 while painting. These two signs, called also "love signs", united make three squares. Three couples of signs make a square (signs 2x3), the most simple. 12 couples (signs 2x3x4) the next square. Then comes the square of 27 couples (signs 2x3x9), and so on to infinity. In some of my paintings I drew inspiration from artists and designers famous all over the world and from an african tribe. |
